The Old Man and the Seat
Total disclosure…I borrowed that line from Jon Stewart, but only cause it’s so perfect.
The phrase highlights an incident that foreshawdows the lack of clear decision we can expect in a Romney-Ryan presidency. Old world, old style…same old shit.
A candidate, who would be president, who’s willing to subcontract policy, purpose and plan to a faded Hollywood star…or maybe at some point in the future, to a determined political ideologue. Your goofy, angry uncle….Just a preview of things to come if Mitt ‘n Paul rise to the top…think about it, and …VOTE.

Time…To Panic.

It’s no secret that magazines are having a rough go these days…how they respond might be a good indication of how tough things are in this industry. This month Time magazine responded with a photo that smells like someone over at Time hit the panic button…and HIT…IT…HARD!
This photo is intended to promo this month’s cover story about, ‘attachment parenting’. Whatever….don’t ask me…I don’t know, don’t give a rats ass. What I know is this… someone over at Time figured the subject alone wasn’t enough to draw readers, so this month , the editors ran the car into the guard rail, and hoped traffic would slow down long enough to watch.
Consider in the second half of 2009 Time magazine saw a 34.9% decline in news stand sales. The first half of 2010, brought another decline of at least one third in Time magazine sales. In the second half of 2010, Time magazine newsstand sales declined by about 12% to just over 79 thousand copies per week.
That sucking sound you hear is Time magazine’s circulation plunging down the drain as the magazine circles the hole.
Go on, stare at this latest Time magazine cover for a moment and when you‘ve confirmed that this is not a headline from ‘The Onion News’; consider the editorial process meltdown that must have led to this.
Don’t get me wrong, this photo hardly offends my delicate sensibilities; I think most of us have seen mothers nursing in plain view, but the implications of this photo and its need to incite will blow up the flyover like a 4,000 lb IED in the middle of the ‘Green Zone’
Or maybe it’ll just pass into the night like a very old and loud panel truck about to run out of gas…what do you think?
